With the finish line in sight, Mozilla is accelerating the beta release schedule of Firefox.
According to the most recent meeting minutes of the product planning team, Firefox 4 Beta 9 is now scheduled for a January 13 release, which is at least one week earlier than we initially expected. However, it is 4 weeks behind the revised release schedule of the browser, which planned a December 16 release date for Beta 9.
The company said there were 53 blocking bugs for this beta on January 4. The current bug chart indicates there are only 5 blocking bugs left, while a total of 247 blocking beta bugs are still listed.
Microsoft is expected to release IE9 RC on January 28.
